Beware Of Facebook Spam

Friday, 28 March 2014

Made me laugh, but considering how much Facebook knows about its users, it’s easy to see how someone could be tricked by this type of Facebook spam.

What’s the funniest subject line you’ve ever received?

Facebook Feature: Unread Stories

Tuesday, 25 March 2014

Facebook has finally admitted (by way of new features) that the Newsfeed algorithm is lacking. It’s no secret that the organic reach of Pages has dropped dramatically, but chances are you miss a lot of stories from your friends, too. But not anymore!

See what you’ve been missing by visiting https://www.facebook.com/feed/missed_stories. Here you’ll find all the posts you didn’t see from your friends. Want to get more of their content in your real feed? Add them to your “Close Friends” list for in-Facebook notification of new posts. Or simply click through their profile and like a few things to give Facebook the hint that you still remember this pal.

Marketers, take note: Pages are conspicuously absent from this unread feed. So there’s no way to game this feature quite yet, but stay tuned. Users will see content shared from a Page by their friends, as seen below.

Quick Tip: Update Your Facebook Apps

Thursday, 06 March 2014

When was the last time you used a Facebook app? Chances are, it was the last time you logged in, even if you didn’t realize it. Not every app is as obvious as a game or contest form. And once you authorize an app, it’s there to stay, even if you only used it once.

Take a minute and see what you have connected right now. Log in to Facebook, and click on the sprocket in the upper right corner. Select “settings,” and then “apps” from the menu on the lefthand side. You’ll see a list of all the apps connected to your profile and can remove any old ones, including erasing all data and activity associated with it. Think of it like spring cleaning for Facebook.

Facebook Feature: Call-To-Action Buttons

Tuesday, 04 March 2014

If you’re looking to improve conversions on Facebook, your time has come. Facebook recently rolled out CTA buttons on promoted posts, for both Power Editor and Ads Manager. To add one to your post, simply start creating an unpublished post. Here’s how it looks in Power Editor:

Easy enough. Then just add to your campaign, set your targeting and your CTA-enabled Facebook post will be shown in the Newsfeed in no time. Here’s an example of a Facebook Call To Action button in an actual ad I was targeted with:
