Facebook has rolled out new page targeting abilities, allowing brands to direct page posts to specific fans in their Newsfeed–for free. Facebook pages can now target fans by gender, age, relationship, education and interested in (romantically), in addition to the previous targeting options of language and location.
AllFacebook reports that this feature is currently available to any page with 5,000 likes or more.
In Facebook’s own words, brand pages can now “Add gender, age, language and location targeting so the most relevant people see your posts in their news feeds. Your posts will still be visible to anyone who visits your Page, even if they are outside of your target audience.”
Unlike older regional posts that targeted location, Facebook is saying that now all fans will be able to see a targeted post on a page. Previously, geographically targeted posts were hidden from any fans not meeting the target criteria.
This is a big move for Facebook and a useful tool for brands. Just keep in mind that targeting capabilities are limited to user-provided information in their Facebook profile.Comments (1) Read More >
